The most recent was at a housing development in the Charter Way (off the Portway) area of Wells. Suspects forced a rear gate and then attempted unsuccessfully to force the front door.
Police enquiries have revealed that two or three weeks ago three men were spotted in the Charter Way area, carrying what was believed to be a crow bar.
Other similar incidents, in which attempts have been made to target elderly and vulnerable residents, have also been reported in the area during the past few weeks.
Police are concerned that the various incidents may be related and are asking people to be vigilant and take simple crime reduction precautions.
• Ensure your property is adequately secured
• Consider having a burglar alarm fitted
• Consider installing a safe if you have valuable possessions
• Good exterior lights can deter a thief
• Consider fitting locks to windows, patio doors
• Where possible consider having a door safety chain fitted
