Heavy snow is expected in Wells tomorrow (18 January) following a weather warning from the Met Office.

Strong winds and heavy snow are expected to hit Wells from 6am until 12pm tomorrow. A lighter snowfall is set to take hold from 12pm onwards.

The minimum temperature expected in the area is -3 °C, the maximum, 4 °C and over 10cm of snow is expected to fall.

A 'be prepared' amber weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for the whole of Somerset.

Although the snow is expected to have ceased by Saturday morning, the Met Office warn that roads are expected to be icy and drivers should be careful throughout the course of the weekend.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Clearly there is the potential for severe disruption and the public are advised to watch for updates to this warning and be prepared to alter travel plans.

"Winds will strengthen and blizzard conditions are a possibility, especially over high ground.

"The public should be aware of the risk of significant travel disruption affecting the west in the morning and the east in the afternoon."
