Magical garden just outside Wells

I was delighted to see the two galleries of the hugely talented & highly modest Alban Bunting added by someone on here, having also attended but forgot to take my camera along with me!

The garden was an utter joy to behold – countless perfect follies outline the structure of the garden and each one has a personal family connection – family member's names adorn many significant creation.

My grand-daughter was particularly enamoured with the tiny mousehole in the skirting board complete with illuminated mouse living room behind, she has already suggested that perhaps I might like to make her one for her bedroom, not having yet adopted a critical appraisal for my efforts at constructing flat-packed furniture! I think she has a long wait!

The National Open Gardens scheme not only allows keen gardeners to take inspiration from local experts and perhaps purchase a cutting or two for their own gardens, but also supports a whole raft of national charities  including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Crossroads Care, The Queen's Nursing Institute and Perennial.

In addition to supporting these charities, proceeds from Angela & Alban's day were to support Larry's Appeal which was set-up some years ago by Angela's sister.

Larry is now 15 years old living in Shepton Mallet with his mother, full-time carer, teacher and loving companion Scarlett. He was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 18 months old and Scarlett has been tirelessly striving to discover any therapies and approaches to help alleviate the disabilities with which her son lives with.
