The stunning flock of individually decorated swan sculptures will gather together at Bishop's Palace for the first and last time this September.

On September 15 and 16 the Swansong Auction Preview weekend will take place at Bishop's Palace, Wells, to celebrate the beauty and grace they have brought to the City over the last three months.

This will be the only opportunity visitors will have to see all 60 magnificent sculptures displayed together before they go to auction.

One of the swans, 'The Swanderer', will be put into a raffle at the auction preview weekend allowing one lucky person to win a sculpture there and then.

The weekend's theme is dedicated to these striking birds, and those who attend will have the chance to enjoy swan sponsor and artist stalls, swan souvenirs, music, entertainment and plenty of refreshments.

The eye-catching 5ft tall fibreglass resin sculptures were hand-made in the UK before a range of artists, sculptors and craftspeople across the West-Country (and beyond) were given free rein to decorate them as they saw fit.

60 swans were designed in honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, one for each year of her rein, and have attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the City of Wells over the summer months.

Those who are considering putting in a bid for one of the beautiful avian sculptures will be given the perfect opportunity to eye-up the competition and pick out their favourites from the flock before the swans go to auction.

The Swansong auction will take place on September 29 and all proceeds will go to charity.

Tickets to the auction preview event can be bought at the gate and cost £6 for adults, £3 for 10 to16 year-olds and under 10s go free. You will be unable to enter after 5 pm.

Totally gutted to find your Swans won't be there next year! We visit Wells every summer and only managed to see a few of your beautiful Swans. Was looking forward to seeing some more next year. Wells won't be the same without them! Hope you raise lots of money.
