Originally organised as a 'one off' to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics, the event, which celebrates and showcases all things sporty, proved so successful a repeat has been scheduled.
Last year's event saw over 50 local sports clubs joining forces at Wells Blue Sports Centre and around 900 community members turning up to sample an array of sports and activities on offer in and around Wells.
Wells Blue Sports Centre Manager Matt Daffurn said: "After the fantastic turnout and some great comments from families that attended we were determined to put this unique event on again.
"The success was largely down to the excellent local sport clubs and organisations in Wells that volunteered their time to offer endless taster sessions for both children and adults to have a go and enjoy. "
He added: "Having had such a prolific year of sport this event has vast potential to continue the legacy and offer the whole community a fun, free and active day."
Tae Kwon Do, Yoga, Thump Boxing, scrabble and gymnastics were just a few of the activities on offer at last year's event.
The 2013 Wells Big Day Out will take place on 22 June this year and organisers promise it will be a fantastic fun-filled event for all the family.
Any local club wishing to register their interest in next year's event can do so by e-mailing mdaffurn@educ.somerset.gov.uk.
