Wells Carnival 2012: Route, parking and illuminated delights

Excitement and anticipation is building for the magical illuminated spectacle that is Wells Carnival 2012 this Friday (November 16).
A funfair will also be held in Wells city centre during the Carnival festivities
Spectators will be treated to music, dancing, magical characters and the warm glow of colourful floats making their way through the streets and roads of Wells, creating a unique and exciting atmosphere.
A family fun fair will also take place in the market place this year with refreshments available in the town centre and around the carnival circuit.
This year's Carnival kicks off at 7pm from Strawberry Way.
The 2012 Wells Carnival Route
The 2012 Carnival procession will travel from Sherston Roundabout, up Strawberry Way before turning right down Tucker Street briefly, before the showstoppers turn left into Chamberlain Street.
The glowing convoy will then turn right into Sadler Street and right again into the High Street. Continuing down the High Street, through to Broad Street and Priory Road, the procession will finish its journey at Sherston Roundabout, between Glastonbury Road and Strawberry Way.
Roads within the carnival route will be closed from 6pm onwards on Saturday 17 November.
Parking at Wells Carnival 2012
The Wells Visitor Centre has recommended spectators driving in, park at two locations unless they want to arrive in the town centre before the road closures at 6pm.
These are, Stoberry Park school and Wells Health Centre on Glastonbury Road, who open up their parking spaces for those who want to see the carnival and join in the festivities.
