Wells men have raised hundreds of pounds for charity this month by growing moustaches.

The charity month Movember sees men around the world encouraging hair growth above their top lip to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Charity and change the face of men's health.

Dozens of men in Wells and the surrounding villages have taken part with all sorts of styles grown, from big handlebar 'taches to little, stylish, Poirot-esque efforts.

With just a few days to go, Movember participants in Wells have raised £556 between them, and in the surrounding villages the total is £943 so far, making a grand total of £1,499 in this area.

One Mo-grower is WellsPeople contributor Tim Lethaby, whose team includes his brother-in-law Greg Farmer, of Shepton Mallet.

Tim and Greg have so far raised £160 between them and are looking to beat the £200 mark by the end of the month.

"Our friends and family have been really generous, but maybe that's because we look really silly!" said Tim.

"I never thought that growing a Mo would be so itchy but it is for such a good cause that it is worth it."

"I am definitely going to take part next year and try and raise even more – particularly as my wife says she likes the look so much!"
