Organisers of Wells Night on the Town have officially confirmed the headline act and line-up today.

Headliners will be Britain's Got Talent Act, The Mend, who became instantly famous in 2011 for their audition mash-up of "I Just Died In Your Arms Tonight" and "Written In The Stars".

The act made it through to the semi-finals and many fans were shocked and disappointed when they nearly missed out on the BGT final. However they were brought back to the final as a "Wild Card".

Opening the event will be talented local DJs '*****y Generals', who have volunteered to help out with the event. They are getting stuck in by helping to set up the main stage and are providing equipment for the event.

Local act, The Drystones will be playing after winning Mid Somerset Media's Battle of the Bands. The duo are only 16-years-old and have been playing at folk festivals and concerts around the West Country over the Summer.

The boys have recently been asked to play for Micahel Eavis and to provide music for his video project.

The two supporting acts for the Mend will be I Am Tich and Rich Maya.

Tich is 19-years-old and has already played at numerous festivals, including Glastonbury, T in the Park and V Festival and has recently toured with pop royalty such as Paolo Nutini, Pixie Lott and Justin Bieber.

She is currently writing and recording her very own album and preparing for her very own headline tour.

The second support act, Rich Maya is a singer/ songwriter based in the South West. He has performed since he was a young boy and progressed his way through rock and blues bands since the age of 17.  He was recently named by Wells Journal as "Musician of the Year 2011."

The Wells on the Town event officially starts at 6pm this Thursday (13 September) and a full pull-out itinerary will be available in the Wells Journal on the day of the event.

Included in the pull-out section will be a map of what's happening at Night on the Town, a booklet of vouchers and a free parking voucher useable in any of the council-run car parks in Wells from 4pm that day.
