Wells will be hosting the finish of stage six of this year's Tour of Britain bike race and further details of the route have been announced.
The stage, on Friday, September 16, starts in Taunton and then heads to Langport and across the Somerset Levels.
After heading around Somerton and Street, the riders will then head to the category 1 climb up Cheddar Gorge.
Then the race will speed across the Mendip Hills to Shepton Mallet and then Croscombe before visiting Wells for the first time on the day.
Riders will head up the High Street before taking on the tough Old Bristol Hill climb up to the Mendips again, where the final run in through Shepton and Croscombe on to Priory Road in Wells for the finish line.
With such a hilly route, particularly with Cheddar Gorge and Old Bristol Hill near to the end of the stage, it is not expected to be a bunch sprint finish in Wells, more likely a solo breakaway or small group will get to the line first.
The stage's other King of the Mountains climb will be at Fivehead Hill on the A378, and the sprint points will be at Langport, in Cheddar before the climb, and in Wells for the first pass of the finishing line.
In the imminent arrival of the tour is inspiring you to get on your bike, there are plenty of places in Wells to get you going.
For all your biking needs, Bike City is the place to go, with a wide range of equipment on offer.
For new bikes and repairs, Halfords has plenty of choice and helpful members of staff.
And for the clothing to go with your ride, visit the High Street sports shop Intersport/Tony Pryce which is soon to become an Animal store.

ReportDon't be so grumpy Well-oiled! The vast majority of Wells will have no interest in cycling but events like this are what living in a city should be all about, I'd have them everyday if I could! You probably have no interest in watching kids dance around a Maypole, or reindeer pulling a sleigh up the high street but you wouldn't have all these things taken to a vote would you? Just saying... :o)

ReportDo you know how much disruption this race is going to cause? I've got no interest in cycling whatsoever, either by myself or some blokes dressed in lycra. Is it going to be a nightmare for those of us who won't be watching?

ReportI'm going to get there early and try and get a spot in the finishing straight. I always watch the Tour de France and the atmosphere at the end of stages always looks great. I'm sure Wells will be in party mood so I'm going to enjoy it!

ReportI'm looking forward to getting out there and grabbing some shots - it's such a spectacle! I'm not sure yet whether to head to the Old Bristol Hill climb or whether to head to the finish line as there are two passes through there...
