Wells restaurants – which would you choose?

A new neighbour, having heard that I write a bit for this website and realising that a special wedding anniversary was fast approaching, asked me the sticky question of which is the best restaurant in Wells.

Available at the Old Spot, Wells
I have a number of favourites but of course, it's all very personal and in the end I fear I bamboozled the poor chap with my list of preferences – we are, after all, very well served in Wells! I wonder which of these you would choose, are there any unsung gems neglected below you think deserve more recognition, let us know what you think.
Fans of traditional cuisine are spoilt for choice, having the choice of Goodfellow's and The Old Spot where there is a wide range of excellent dishes, carefully crafted and with exciting wine lists to match.
Those liking Italian food will be delighted at what's available at Rugantino's. Or vegetarians will enjoy the specialist Good Earth Restaurant which is open during the daytime.
There are a number of Indian restaurants locally if your taste is for something more spicy, my joint favourites are the Riverside Indian and Café Romna.
I also recommended to him Anton's Bistrot at the Crown Hotel, the restaurant at the Swan Hotel and Brufani's steak & gourmet burger restaurant at the White Hart Hotel.
He has made the very sensible decision to lunch his away around a shortlist in order to chose the right option – all right for some!

ReportI have eaten in some of the restaurants above and agree that we have quite a good choice here in Wells, but I wish a decent Thai restaurant would open. I miss Thai food like crazy having moved from London where there was plenty of choice, hope somebody hears my plea!
