A Wells woman has been awarded with the first Servis 2012 UK model washing machine after half a century of loyalty to the brand.
Janet McHugh from Wells
Janet McHugh, from Wells, was desperate for a new washing machine of the same make after her 19-year-old contraption broke last Summer.
Janet, who works as a Technical Consultant, was "devastated" to find out, after carrying out some online research, that the company had stopped producing washing machines.
She had owned her Servis washing machine for 19 years and recalls her parents owning a Servis twin tub for over 30 years:
"We've had the same brand of washing machine in our family for over half a century and when mine finally gave up this summer, I had no doubts it was a Servis machine I wanted again,"
"The only contacts I could find for the company were online so I sent an e-mail asking if there would ever be another Servis machine on the market again.
Luckily for Janet, the company was re-launching itself in the UK in July 2012 and responded immediately to her query:
Janet said: "I asked to be put on the waiting list for a new machine but they said they'd do better than that – they'd make sure I was the first British customer to have the new machine delivered."
Servis was founded in 1929 but after 1980s faced a difficult few decades finally going into administration in 2009.
The brand re-launched in the UK in July 2012.
Servis Category Manager Simon Hedges said: "Janet is one of many people who have had many years of unfaltering service from their Servis appliance.
"Hearing Janet's story and her determination to find another Servis machine to replace her 20-year-old model was something that really struck a chord with our UK team
"We knew that the first home to host the arrival of our brand new range of washing machines, simply had to be Janet's."
Janet received her new machine on 28 August and says she is "delighted with all the features that the new Servis washing machine brings.
"It is important to move with the times and I'm loving that fact that I have such a familiar brand back in my home where it belongs." She added.
