For those that don't know, Pickwicks open up thurs/fri/sat evenings for wine and tapas. I gave this a go the other night and was met by a very friendly group of staff and a tasty looking menu. It all looked great in the evening and felt like a relaxed tapas restaurant with some Spanish background music and candles (I was told there is normally a Spanish guitarist). The tapas menu was varied and I was told that new additions are made by the chef each week. Once we were sat with a good bottle of wine we were treated to the seven different tapas we ordered. They were fantastic! The Spanish chef (formally at Goodfellows) also had a couple of family recipes on the menu, one of which was a pork belly, chorizo and bean stew which was my personal favourite. Despite it being a quiet evening due to the terrible weather it rates as one of my most enjoyable meals in Wells. I hope these evenings become a great success for them as I can see myself returning very soon.

One of the liveliest coffee houses in the city which is great news as it's a local concern and giving the national chains a run for their money. Has a good range of buns, pastries and muffins to go with whichever coffee you chose and an excellent range of lunches whether you're ravenous or fancy something more modest. The walls are adorned with works by local talented artists and there is always a great vibe.
