Wells police are investigating a fire which caused four vehicles to be written-off.
The incident occurred in Wells at 12.10pm on Friday March 23. A hedge between the Whiting Way car park and a neighbouring private car park was set alight. Four vehicles are likely to be written off as a result of the fire and a fifth has damage to plastic trims and lights.
Two young men were seen running from the location. One had a slim build with short brown hair and looks to be around 15-years-old. He was wearing a light blue top with light coloured trousers with a dark strip running down the leg. The second person was wearing dark clothing and a black rucksack.
One eye witness said: "I didn't see the fire itself, but could see the huge plume of smoke from the city centre drifting up into the air. At first our office assumed it was an accident but the fact that four cars were burnt out and a colleague who did see the scene said from the look on the attending policemen's faces suggested that maybe the fire might have been started deliberately."
An investigation into the cause of the fire has begun and police would like to speak to anyone with information which might help their enquiries. Witnesses should contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101.
