I will be getting a puppy soon and am wondering where the best dog walks are in and around wells. Living in Wells I would love to find some good field/woods walks without having to drive anywhere. Hopefully there are some local dog walkers about to advise me?

Tor Wood's in Well's is a good place for a walk. But dont be like everyone else what leave's dog poop's everywear. Take doggy bag's and clear up your mess after words.

No I won't I work in health care so I know how dangerous it is to kids let alone how disgusting it is anyway!!! Can u access tor woods from the horringtons way as well as near the bishops palace? Or are they separate woods?

Hi Vicky

We asked our Twitter Followers to help you on this matter and most of them, like cardinal_sin there said Tor Woods was the place to go.

They did however mention that Tor Woods is very busy with dog walkers already and I got a lot of responses about making sure the puppy's mess is cleaned up! ;)

Other suggestions were as follows: "Along the back of the quarry & down towards Wookey Hole.

"We like Stockhill Woods (which is near Wells). Tor woods is very busy with dog walkers these days"

"Charterhouse / Roman lead mines - great dog walking !" - Beautifuly area but around 20 minutes away from Wells.

Excellent thank you so much :-) I will try them all! The busy tor woods will be great for socialising him!
I can't believe people still don't pick up after their dogs, disgusting. My training book suggests you get your dog in routine of going before even leaving so you dont have to pick up on the walk, may try that idea out but will def be taking plenty of nappy bags with me anyway!
