Viyella in Wells are joining in with the nation's biggest coffee morning this Friday in aid of Macmillan.

The ladies' fashion shop will be selling scrumptious homemade and bought in cakes along with coffees, teas and other hot beverages in aid of the cancer support charity.

The store will also be raffling off vouchers for their own store and the Country Casuals store, available in Wells.

Chrissie Hodinott, who works at Viyella, has found that Wells locals have been very interested and extremely supportive of their coffee morning plans.

She said: "We have had a really good reaction from people in Wells when they realised we were doing the coffee morning.

"Quite a lot of local people have come in here after hearing that we were doing it and offered their support.

"I think events like this are important to a tight community like Wells."

Chrissie explained that Macmillan is a charity that is very important to Viyella:

"We support the charity in our shop anyway by selling their badges and we do fashion shows and events to raise money for them.

"I would definitely say that the charity is an important one to our stores and we are hoping to raise a lot of money for them."

The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest fundraiser of the year. Last year around 51,000 people got involved and raised a record 10 million for the charity.

Viyella's Coffee Morning, will start 10.30am at there store at 23 Market Place, Wells on Friday 28 September. The end time has yet to be confirmed.

Macmillan's fundraising manager for Somerset, Tobias Fielder, said: "People can be so busy that catching up with friends, workmates or even family can be difficult.

"This event gives them a reason to make time for each other while also doing something really valuable for people with cancer and their families."
