Nordic walking work-out sessions in the Mendips

Shepton Mallet local Mimi Raad is holding a free Nordic Fitness Walking Taster Day in the Mendips on March 14.

Most sessions, which a maximum of two people can book at a time, have already been booked up on the taster day but there are still a few available

She said: "Most taster sessions on the 14th are already booked up but for those of you who I cannot fit in on the 14th, I am happy to find another time and day when you can have your free trial."

"Nordic Walking and Fitness Walking are for everybody, no matter what age, gender or fitness level you are, it is an inclusive sport and easily adjusted to your personal needs – couch potato or Olympic athlete.

"Nordic Walking was originally a summer training regime for cross-country skiers. It is based on using specially designed walking poles in a way that harnesses the power of the upper body in order to propel you forward as you walk.

"Today it is a recognised way to turn a walk into a whole body exercise that can be done by anybody anywhere any time.
