After the success of the first event last year, a bunch of Wells' volunteers have come together to bring the same event back for 2010, even bigger and even better, to celebrate our fantastic little city!
NOW CONFIRMED - "BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT" FINALISTS,
TOBIAS MEAD & RECONNECTED
WILL BE THE HEADLINE ACTS ON THE MAIN STAGE!!!
There'll be lots going on, in and around the high street, with entertainers, stalls, food, demonstrations, lots of late openings and even a famous headline act, so keep your eyes peeled for more information.
As part of the celebrations, The King's Head will be bringing our 'Open Mic' night out into the high street that evening, so everyone can join in. If you have an instrument that's easy to carry, bring it along with you and take the chance to play to a high street FULL of people!
Put it in your diary, we promise you won't regret it. Get their early, as we're expecting 1000s! All central roads will be closed from 5pm...

This event is going to highlight the best that Wells has to offer, shopping, entertainment, activities and more.
Yes some of the things on offer may not be up every ones street however one thing that can be guaranteed is a fun filled evening. Spend a Night on the Town is September's answer to Carnival with things happening throughout the City Centre. If you hadn't already planned to come put it in your diary now and bring the family and friends along.
The evening is completely free (other than shopping in the shops of course) and is 100% down to the enthusiastic effort of a handful of Wells people who have dedicated months of hard work to bring this event back to the City bigger and better than before.
We hope that you will enjoy the night and spread the word.

ReportThis is going to be one fantastic evening. Am v much looking forward - open mics, outdoor eating, late market, Wookey circus, dinosaurs, bands, dancers, etc etc. Even a hog roast for me. Only me, hands off.

ReportKH - I meant a licence to have people collecting cash for a charity or charities of your choice during the event. You need a licence from the local council to do such a thing I believe.

ReportCardinal - Tobias will be on around 9pm. I'd prefer much later, so the evening doesn't feel so rushed, but this is Wells, after all :o)
Not sure what you mean about organising a licence?

ReportThis sounds fantastic. I didn't find out about last years' until just then (!) which probably highlights one of the 'lessons' you mentioned. I will be there and am looking forward to it. Recently I found myself (dragged by my daughter) watching some Britain's Got Talent and X Factor acts and although its not my thing, the quality of entertainment was good, and lets face it, just getting out and about is great. Similarly, recently (FREE!!) I saw the Wurzels in Shepton Mallet (at the show) and loved them. I wouldn't have paid to see them perhaps, but in retrospect, I would pay for that experience (cheese and cider included). I would have happily put something into a collection. Good luck with it!
