High Speed Broadband - PAH!!!

I am completely fed up with not being able to get broadband.
I live in Emborough and BT are not prepared to sort out the problem.
On the Chilcompton side of the A37 they can recieve a broadband but 300 yards down the line and I am too far away.
I get 31.2kb dial up connection which is 16 times slower than the slowest broadband and it is driving me nuts.
To add to it all there is no 3G internet signal from any of the Mobile providers either so a USB dongle does not improve things at all.
At my house there is no possibility of using youtube or downloading movies or music. Emails with any big attachments, forget it. Even the normal Microsoft updates are almost impossible to keep up to date.
Come on BT sort out us rural people without any broadband before crowing about the mega fast connections that you are planning to be installing in the towns and cities.

I think the obvious solution is to persuade your neighbours at no 10 to move, you buy it & then knock through? That's terrible form on BT's part - keep haranguing them, they MUST be able to do something surely? Anyone else had a similar experience & could share some tips?

ReportThat's just ridiculous - especially when you think that these days you can surf online almost anywhere on your mobile! I'm sure they will get it sorted eventually, it just must be incredibly frustrating in the meantime...

Report9 months on from my original post and still no broadband.
We live in a row of twelve houses in three block of four and we are number 12.
There is now broadband at these houses that I know of, numbers 2, 4,5,8.9,10 but BT still say they cannot get a broadband connection to number 12. I do know that one house is only getting about 0.3mbs download speed which is dam slow but it is still 10 times faster than my 28kbs modem.
This is mad.
When will BT sort this out and let us make a leap into the 21st century world of IPlayer, youtube, downloads and even things as simple as Windows updates.

ReportBy the way, clicking on the link http://tinyurl.com/3x84wwy crashes my Internet Explorer session.

Report6.09 Mbps, that is nearly 200 times faster than my dial up.
Emborough is a village with no centre and is dispersed along the B3139 and B3114 which would make things quite difficult in getting a community project such as you mentioned. Plus satellite is expensive so it would need a good buy-in.
