Bath & West National Gardening Show

Following the rain & wind-ravaging end to our British summer it was wonderful to see September ushering along warm, sunny weather and crisp blue skies, long may it last.

Ooh what a beauty!
The fabulous weather at the Bath and West Showground provided the perfect setting for the National Gardening Show and everyone I spoke to were enjoying a super day among the heady perfumes of an awesome array of plants.
There was also an excellent showing by a number of local exhibitors including the Gaymer Cider Company, In Clover - cottage garden plant specialists, Mendip Bonsai Studio, Pennard Plants, and Simon Smith chainsaw artist.
There was quite a lot of excitement in the giant vegetable hall where a prize potato, grown by Peter Glazebrook, tipped the scales at a healthy newborn size of 8lbs 4oz (3.76kg), smashing the previous world record by 9oz. If you think you could do better, try growing the giant variety: Peter's Kondor variety, and see how you get on, there are numerous categories but in a nutshell, big or long is beautiful!
If you discovered something special at the National Gardening Show or have grown a prize-winning vegetable in the past, don’t keep it to yourself – we’d love to hear weights & see photos if you have any, please add them below.
