Local dog owners are being reminded to clear up after their pets, if they don’t already, as part of Poop Scoop week.

Scoop that there poop
The national event is being supported by the authority, police and the Dogs Trust, who are thanking considerate owners while reminding the irresponsible few that dogs can’t pick up after themselves.
Each year thousands of complaints are received by local authorities about dog mess littering public footpaths, grass areas and parks, and anyone caught not picking up after their pet risks an on-the-spot fine of up to £50.
One Wells resident ET said “it’s just unbelievably gross when owners leave the steaming pile where the dog did it. I often have to wheel my pram through narrow alleyways in the city where most of the offending deposits are to be found and in the half-light of dusk it’s almost impossible to spot them before the telltale stench arises telling me I’ve ploughed right through one.”
She did want to give a special thank you to one unsung hero of the city – this kindly person actually chalks round the poohs so that they are more clearly visible, what a fabulous person.
I happen to think that we’re a responsible bunch of folks in the main and thank you to all the good people who do the right thing. Readers would like to help your dog ‘perform’ while at home rather than on the lead might like to read this.
