Chilcompton hitster’s home village gig

Chilcompton singer/songwriter Helena will be getting people in her home village into the festive spirit tonight.

She will playing a gig in Chilcompton’s Redan Inn this evening, alongside vocalist Mandy Broadway and saxophonist Ray Conneelly.
Helena is a prolific performer, having played many gigs in and around Wells over the last decade.
However, she drew her biggest success with the song We Laughed, which made number 11 in the Top 40.
It was written, with the help of Billy Bragg, by a mother who was dying of cancer.
Helena’s performances are wide ranging, mixing jazz, soul, blues, country, folk and rock.
Born in London, Helena has lived in Somerset for more than three decades.
As well as being an accomplished singer/songwriter, she has been on television, presenting an antiques show called Beat The Dealer.

Fore those looking for a more traditional form of music, tonight also sees carols at the bandstand in Wells Recreation Ground.
Presented by Wells Vineyard Church, there will be mulled wine and minced pies at the event which starts at 6.15pm.
There is also a family disco tonight, with entry for children free, and the Tramways (formerly the Buses Club) in West Street, Wells, starting at 7.30pm.
