THE REPERTOIRE:
Big Band swing favourites (that you might have heard before) along with some modern arrangements of funky tunes (that will get you dancing in the aisles!). Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Big Phat Band, Thad Jones, Buddy Rich, Sammy Nestico etc
THE MUSICIANS:
Saxophones: Edward Leaker(Ex Nyjo and Royal Academy), Karen Street(Strictly Come Dancing Tour Band), Andy Tweed(Piccadilly Dance Orchestra), Jamie Phippen, Lisa Tregale
Trumpets: Nick Malcolm(top Bristol jazz player), Paul Denegri(Wells Cathedral School Trumpet Guru)
Trombones: Jonny Hopes(Ace big band player and MD), Andy Fawbert(Ex BBC big band and every UK orchestra I can think of..)
Piano: Colin Mitchell (jazz, pop, session work, big bands, you name it, Colin
has done it. Nationally. No, wait, internationally.)
Guitar: Neil Burns (acknowledged by many as the best jazz guitarist in the South West)
Bass: Al Swainger (I simply cannot fit in the number of top UK musicians that Al has played with...we are very lucky he was available!)
Drums: Mark Whitlam (Incredible Bristol based drummer)
This will be an incredibly exciting gig and we would love for you to join us in
helping to bring quality big band jazz to the South West.
We want to make quality jazz music available to as many people as possible - and have fun as well!
