Wells New Year opportunities

I was asked where I would chose in Wells to see in the New Year & have to say, it’s a tricky decision with such a good selection of pubs concentrated in such a small area.

Then I had a lightbulb moment – of course, to ensure you combine exercise and fresh air with your enthusiastic thirst-slaking on the night, why not have a pub crawl?!

I am a proud achiever of the half-pint challenge in the ‘Wells Mile’ where 12 pubs are included on the circuit. I went with a group of about 20 good folks but only 4 made the whole distance (due largely to most of the boys having a pint in each pub but gradually regretting t as the night progressed)!

I think a good route would be the Britannia Inn,l followed by the Rose and Crown  and a brisk walk up to the Sherston Inn.

Assuming you’re still good to continue, you could hit the Globe Inn for some excellent company and ale followed by The Crown in the Market Square where they usually make a big effort, ending with a great party atmosphere in The King’s Head to dance the night away!
