Wells music fans have never had it so good

Wells has always been a city full of

events, but recently there has been a massive increase in the number of quality

gigs taking place here.

A surplus of quality venues, such as the

King’s Head, Kudos nightclub, Wells Town Hall, Wells City Football Club and

Cafe Piano means concerts by higher quality acts are now taking place with

regularity.

The increase can also be attributed to two

promoters in the city – Merv Colenutt and Paul Banwell.

The two, while not necessarily competing

head-to-head, are pushing each other on to book bigger and better acts.

Merv has a number of acts on his books,

including the Moondogs, Rubettes singer Paul Da Vinci who has performed in the

King’s Head, Oakhill’s Guy Johnson, the Midrod Ends, Slade tribute act Sladest

and singers Kayleigh and Tim Pitman, who is well known in the city for his

sell-out appearances here.

Paul Banwell has organised the top tribute

act Killerz at Kudos on February 18, and obviously has plenty of support of the

city’s pubs as tickets are on sale at the Britannia Inn, the Rose and Crown,

the Sun Inn, the City Arms, the King’s Head, the Globe Inn and the Sherston

Inn

Of course, the 1980s stars Hot Chocolate

are booked to play at Kudos, on February 11th which is guaranteed to

be a great night (you don't even need to believe in miracles)!

Have any of you been to any of these gigs?

We’d love to hear what you thought below.

I've heard Tim Pitman sing - he is incredibly good! Apparently the Killerz are supposed to sound as good as, if not better than, the real thing...
