Snug on a Freezing February afternoon

Found myself in here for a few jars with some mates on a bitterly cold Saturday afternoon market day a couple of weeks ago. We'd only intended to stop off for one while we warmed our cockles, but ended up sitting in the mezzanine bit (where a log fire was roaring away) for a few hours. People came and went but we stayed and soaked up the warm and friendly atmosphere. Good selection of beer and wine and certainly a good place to spend a few hours.

    A great pub, superb restaurant and mostly brilliant atmosphere

       

    The Crown is a bit a of a flagship pub in Wells. The Restaurant (Anton's Bistro) is excellent. The atmosphere in the main pub can be really friendly. I have been in when a few idiots have decided to be a bit bulshy, but that aside, this is one of, if not the best pubs in Wells.
