Did Jake Baynes cost the Tories the victory?

Looking at the figures for the Wells seat & despite Mr Heathcoat-Amory's claims to the opposite, did Jake Baynes not standing down, cost the Tories the Wells seat?!

Analysis & comment from the scene
Heathcoat-Amory lost by 800 votes and had Baynes stood down as instructed by UKIP leader Lord Pearson, it is conceivable that at least 800 of the 1,711 votes he received would have been to support the Tory for his Eurosceptic stance.
Reports are that the response to him from Tory supporters in Draycott hall we decidedly frosty.
Comments
No Jake didn't cost the Tories the seat. I think a substancial amount of manure cost D H-A his seat. Mr Baynes represented a different political party and his (UKIP) supporters deserved their 'say'. Lord Pearson should be challenging the Tories on their European policies rather than stabbing his own personnel in the back.
