Rocky Mountain Nurseries

The proprietors Chris and Terry Bailey are friendly, helpful, and grow a huge range of plants. Their cheerful, experienced staff are always available to help and advise.

Roses to Rhododendrons, Conifers to Clematis, Trees, small and large shrubs are grown on 6 acres of growing beds. Over 350 varieties of fuchsias, 50 varieties of pelargoniums and 100's of varieties of basket and patio plants are grown in our glasshouses and poly tunnels each year. Outside on benches we grow over 300 different species of herbaceous and alpine plants. We offer you a botanical bonanza at Rocky Mountain.

And for the well dressed garden the range of compost and plant foods, pest and weed control, garden tools, furniture and sundries offer outstanding quality and price.

Our nursery

Rocky Mountain Nursery is situated in the beautiful Mendip Hills and is over 700 feet above sea level. We are surrounded by trees and wildlife and have spectacular views across the Vale of Avalon as far as the Quantock Hills. Our plants grow hard (either outside or cool temperatures inside) so when planted in your garden they grow fast and healthy. We always guarantee our trees and shrubs for the first year.

Because of the large amount of wildlife in the area, we try our best to grow all our plants without using chemical sprays. In fact a lot of gardener's use more in a year than we use in 5 years! This provides a good balance of insects that keep our plants happy and healthy.

Most of our plants are grown on the premises, thus cutting out the middleman. As well as the general public, we supply local authorities and professional landscapers.

James Store

James Store was built in the early 1980's on the site of the old army huts. Today the shop stocks tools, household and D.I.Y. goods, kitchenware/ tableware, haberdashery and wools and a large selection of over 300 ind buttons. We also stock a large selection of HG cleaning products; and new for 2009 MASBURY SPRING HOMEBREW and equipment. Our products change daily so please come and browse around. You are sure to find something that you want at a very competitive price.

Coffee Shop

The Rock Cake Coffee Shop was established in 1997 on the Rocky Mountain Nursery site to offer our shoppers refreshments in a calm and pleasant atmosphere. The menu includes good, home cooked food, snacks and beverages to please most palates. We have everything from an All Day Breakfast to filled rolls, toasted sandwiches to home cooked jacket potatoes, fish platters to sausage rolls and pastries. We also sell desserts, from topped cold cheesecakes to fruit filled pies, served with a choice of cream or ice cream.
